This Buyer is responsible for purchasing of traded goods and raw material needed for production. They buyer will continuously monitor and analyze production requirements to minimize on hand inventories, while ensuring no shortages in direct material. The buyer will participate in month-end inventory counts and help support local and regional sourcing initiatives. The buyer will develop and maintain relationships with local vendors and gain an understanding of local markets.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Set up traded items in ERP system.
· Monitor purchasing requisitions daily.
· Issue purchase orders to outside vendors as needed for raw materials and traded goods.
· Responsible for monitoring and analyzing production material requirements to minimize on hand inventories, while ensuring no shortages for direct materials such as lumber, plywood, foam, corrugate, steel, and fasteners.
· Communicate to Customer Service Representative if vendor cannot meet customers’ requested ship date.
· Monitor and expedite open Purchase Orders to ensure on-time delivery from vendors.
· Update Purchase orders as needed to reflect changes in price or delivery dates.
· Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers as needed.
· Research potential new suppliers and support supplier onboarding and management process.
· Develop and maintain relationships with local vendors.
· Follow up with suppliers for corrective action on quality/delivery issues.
· Ensure supply of indirect materials ex. PPE, banding, tools, machinery consumables Inbound freight management.
· Participates in month-end physical inventory count, counting and reporting, data input into ERP system, variance analysis.
· Maintains vendor performance records (monthly basis).
· Supports and participates in local, regional, and corporate sourcing initiatives.
· Travel up to 10%.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION

  • Minimum associate degree in a related field, bachelor’s preferred

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of buying and/or sourcing experience, preferably in a manufacturing
  • Experience negotiating with multiple suppliers.
  • Experience working with ERP system.

 

LANGUAGES

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

  • Strong communication and time management skills

  • Ability to work cross functionally with other departments.
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
